Ascot Tips: Doc Hay
Firm ground has been no use to him this season. Finally has his conditions and won the race last year.
Yesterday’s rain has changed Ascot’s going description to soft and that brings Doc Hay into play for the 1.30 contest.
Winner of the race last year in similar conditions he’s taken a while to get going this season. He shaped with promise in the Portland and subsequently at Beverley before winning on his last start at Ripon.
The ground has probably been the main contributor to his poor performances, he’s only ever won on ground rated ‘good’ or softer therefore the dry summer has been no use to him.
Back in form, with conditions to suit he is a worthy favourite at 7/1 (Betfred).
