Ascot Tips: Democretes
Finished third at Windsor two starts back and the form of that race is looking very strong.
Democretes is one of a trio of four-year-olds who ran really well in a hot Windsor handicap on 22 April. The winner of that race, Nocturn, won again on Monday and the runner-up, Poole Harbour, finished third when upped in grade at Newmarket.
Democretes finished a neck behind the pair and he can frank the form in the 7.05 Ascot.
Last time out he finished a slightly unlucky second in a class 2 handicap at Goodwood. He got badly hampered three furlongs out but rallied again in the last 200 yards. His run deserves upgrading because it takes a good horse to muster two bursts of speed.
Dropped down into class 3 company he’s got plenty in his favour. He is well drawn, has plenty of pace to aim at and the wide track should ensure he gets a clear passage as he often meets trouble in running. He should run a big race at 9/2 (Coral).
