Alben Star Is Rising

Not beaten far in three class 2 handicaps this winter. Makes his fibresand debut but his pedigree suggests he will handle it.

The 3.15 Southwell is a cracking sprint, especially for a dreary Tuesday afternoon. There are plenty of course favourites in the line-up but Alben Star is interesting on his fibresand debut.

There is no doubt he is a well handicapped sprinter, he is 5lbs below his last winning mark and hasn’t lost by more than 2.25 lengths in his last three starts, all class 2 handicaps.

This will be only his third race at the minimum trip but he won over 5f on his debut and wasn’t beaten far at Lingfield three starts back when badly drawn and then hampered in the closing stages.

Alben Star is racing at Southwell for the first time but his sire has a 14.3% strike rate with his progeny on fibresand, up 3.1% on his overall strike rate.
