Alben Star High Quality Sprinter

Alben Star High Quality Sprinter

Did nothing wrong last season other than bump into the brilliant Pretend. Beat Chookie Royale off level weights on Finals Day.

A small but talented group of sprinters line-up for the 6.10 Kempton and there are some strange disparities in the prices.

Chookie Royale is the short price market leader on account of his 2.25 length win at Wolverhampton last time, however he is opposable. His running style is least suited to Kempton, where front-runners have the smallest advantage of all the all-weather venues.

He was also beaten off level weights by Alben Star at last year’s all-weather Sprint Championship and that is the horse I fancy today.

Alben Star didn’t do a lot wrong on the all-weather last season except bump into the exceptional Pretend. He finished runner-up to the Godolphin horse on his last two all-weather starts but still ran exceptional closing sectionals of 21.54s and 21.83s.

The only worry is that sometimes Richard Fahey has him undercooked (first start in 137 days) especially with big races in the spring in mind. Nevertheless, at 7/1 (Betfred) be prepared to take the risk on a classy sprinter.
