Zurich Classic Tips: Lucas Glover
Leads the ball-striking stats on tour and has a couple of top-10s at TPC Louisiana.
Lucas Glover is becoming a bit of a sucker bet for me (add him to the Steele/Mullinax list) but one day he’s going to hole a few putts and win.
In terms of ball-striking there is no one better than him on tour. He drives it long and straight (second for total driving) and hits plenty of greens (second for GIRs).
Unfortunately, he loses strokes to the field when it comes to putting but it’s not as bad as it used to be. In many respects he’s similar to defending champions Justin Rose – terrific tee-to-green but streaky on the greens.
Glover has four top-25s to his name this season and has a good record at TPC Louisiana. He has only missed one cut in seven starts at the course and has a couple of top-10s including a T4 in 2013.
This former US Open champions isn’t finished yet and is another lively outsider at 125/1 (William Hill).
