Zurich Classic Tips: Jhonattan Vegas
Finished T36 on debut last year and should create plenty of opportunities. Ranked seventh on tour for GIRs.
Jhonattan Vegas is still trying to rebuild his career after an injured ravaged 2013 but there are signs the Venezuelan is coming back to form.
The elements to his game that brought success in the past are working well again; he ranks 26th in total driving and 7th in GIRs on tour.
Results haven’t quite matched his play of late; he has two top-10s but both came early in the wraparound season. Nevertheless, he finished T19 in Houston and is consistently making cuts without lighting up the scoreboard.
Last year he finished T36 on his first look at TPC Louisiana, shooting three rounds in the 60s.
Vegas should hit plenty of greens again this week and if he is able to convert the opportunities he creates, then he could go well at 200/1 (Skybet).
