Wyndham Championship Tips: Webb Simpson

Recorded his maiden tour win at Sedgefield CC in 2011 and shot low rounds at Firestone and Oak Hill hinting at a return to form.

Webb Simpson has won a tournament in each of the last two seasons and he is the type of player I expect to win at least once every year. The 28-year-old has gone close on numerous occasions with four top-10 finishes but is yet to register a win. That could all change at the Wyndham Championship.

Sedgefield Country Club has been kind to Webb Simpson over the years, it was the scene of his maiden tour victory in 2011 and in his last three visits, he has finished T8-1-T22, with an average score of 14-under.

In the last couple of tournaments we’ve seen glimpses of Simpson’s best form, he finished T14 at Firestone after an opening round of 64 and equalled what was at the time Oak Hill’s course record, with a second round 64 at the US PGA.

A worthy favourite at 14/1 (Boylesports) I’d be surprised if he didn’t go close.
