Woods To Miss US Open
The former world number one misses the US Open next week through injury but barely causes a ripple in the betting market.
Two years ago the betting for a major would be turned upside down by the absence of Tiger Woods. It is a measure of how much his power has waned that his withdrawal from the US Open has barely registered with the bookmakers. A pre tournament 16/1 chance, his price no longer dominated the market.
With injury frequently recurring, there are big question marks whether he can ever get back to his former glories. After the latest setback Paddy Power have pushed Woods out to 12/1 to win the Open Championship, three times the price he was in May.
