Webb Simpson US Open Champion

A closing round of 68 was enough for Webb Simpson to prevail by one shot and capture the US Open title.

A run of four birdies in five holes was enough for Webb Simpson to capture his first major title as his rivals faltered on the run-in. A two-time winner on tour in 2011, Simpson arrived in San Francisco under the radar after successive missed cuts on tour. Paddy Power have cut the American from 66/1 to 14/1 to top the PGA Tour money list, a title he came close to capturing last season.

The 26-year-old is 50/1 (Stan James) to win the British Open next month, but he might miss the event with his wife expecting their second child around the same time.

Lee Westwood was again out of luck in his search for his first major, with his ball getting stuck up a tree on the 5th hole. The Englishman is 12/1 (Paddy Power) to break his duck at Royal Lytham.

Despite a stuttering weekend, Tiger Woods leads the betting for the next major, a best price 7/1 with Paddy Power.
