US Open Tips: Dustin Johnson

Second in the PGA Tour’s all-around ranking and shot three good rounds in Memphis last week.

Dustin Johnson is still searching for that elusive first major but he’s such a talent I can’t resist backing him.

The 29-year-old has six top-10 finishes in major championships and it’s surely a matter of time before one falls his way.

The world number 15 is enjoying another strong season; he is 4th in the FedEx Cup standings and is finding his form again after injury hampered his Masters preparation.

Johnson warmed up for Pinehurst with an encouraging T24 at the St. Jude Classic, where he shot 68 or better in three of the four rounds.

Second in the PGA Tour’s all-around ranking his game should be well suited to Pinehurst, with his distance off the tee another advantage.

At 40/1 (Stan James) we should get a good run for our money with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.

*There was a dead-heat with 5 players sharing 3 places.
