US Open Tip: Steve Stricker e/w

Stricker is one to watch.

Ranked number four in the world, he has the game to handle Congressional.

The man who came in as a 28/1 winner for Betting Bias at the Memorial Tournament two weeks ago is primed for another bid for glory in the US Open. Now the top ranking American in the world, Stricker has the game ideally suited to the demands of Congressional. Tellingly, he leads the tour in bogey avoidance, is 5th for putting, 22nd for GIRs and 31st for fairways found. Scoring average remains one of the best general indicators of quality and at 69.71 we see why he ranks third in those PGA statistics as well.

Clearly we are looking at an all-rounder, and one reaching the peak of his career over recent years. Stricker is another one of the top players who has never won a major but with nine top 10s in those events this could be his time, but even if not, he remains a great each-way pick at the very least. Since 2009 the 44-year-old has claimed 24 top 10s in tour events played in the States. With most firms paying out on a top six finish in Maryland it’s not hard to see the value in Steve Stricker at 25/1 with Betfred.
