US Open Tip: Robert Karlsson

Karlsson Great US Open Record

Two top thirty finishes in his last two US Opens; he arrives at the top of his game after reaching a play-off on the PGA Tour last week.

Every one of the majors is currently held by a first time winner, with no golfer dominating the game over half the field can be given a chance. With such fine margins separating the champions from the also-rans it seems ludicrous that 70/1 is available on a man who made a play-off last week.

For the second year running Robert Karlsson lost the St. Jude Classic on the extra holes. Disappointed by defeat, he can take heart because he played some excellent golf, signalling he is back to his best.

Quietly going about his business, he has recaptured the form that led him to the European Order of Merit title in 2008. The giant Swede finished 2010 in style by winning the Dubai World Championship and has continued the good run with four top tens in 13 events this year.

One of the best drivers on the European Tour he is in the top ten for distance and accuracy, excellent attributes for Congressional. The US Open suits his game with a top thirty finish last year and T-4 in 2008. If his putter stays hot he can score another major win for the Europeans.

Most bookmakers are paying ¼ for a top six finish so make the most of the 70/1 available with Boylesports.
