Rust Oleum Championship Tips: Joel Dahmen
Has four top-15s finishes this season including a T11 last week. Fifth in the all-around ranking.
For the third edition of the Rust Oleum Championship we have changed venue and state, with Ivanhoe Club in Illinois hosting its first professional event. With precious little information we have to refer to the words of golf director Jim Sobb,
“It’s a shot-making course, a good golf course for someone who can flight the ball, has an adept short game and great touch around the greens.”
This week’s winner needs a bit of everything then and that will suit Joel Dahmen who is fifth in the tour’s all-around ranking.
Having backed him for the BMW Charity Pro-Am and then immediately deserted him, I was almost made to pay when he finished T11 in the Dominican Republic. A late double-bogey on Sunday cost him a chance of a top-5 and gave me a reprieve.
Winner of the PGA Tour Canada money list in 2014, he has the ability to be competitive at this level and with four top-15 finishes already this season it won’t be long before he wins.
