Rust Oleum Championship Tips: Anders Albertson

Rust Oleum Championship Tips: Anders Albertson

Leads the tour in GIRs and ball-striking but is yet to convert his excellence tee-to-green.

Anders Albertson failed to make the weekend at the Dominican Republic after bogeying his the 36th hole but he didn’t get the best of the weather and shouldn’t be judged too harshly.

It’s been a story of ‘what ifs’ for Albertson so far this season. He’s only made 3/10 cuts but the last two he’s missed on scores of -4 and -5 and is not far off playing very good golf.

We saw glimpses of his ability when third at the Brasil Champions and the 23-year-old has some impressive statistics on the Web.com Tour. He is currently ranked first in GIRs, second in total driving and first in ball-striking. An amazing feat considering those results were garnered from the four US-based tournaments this season and he missed the cut in all of them!

It doesn’t take a genius to realise something must be wrong with the putter and Albertson ranks 130th in putting average. However, he only needs an average week on the greens to contend, a good one could see him win.

Ivanhoe Club should be a venue that suits his game and at 250/1 (Stan James) he is a great each-way bet.
