Rust Oleum Championship Tips: Scott Harrington

Finished runner-up at the 2002 Illinois Open and familiarity with the area could give him an edge at a new venue.

With zero course form to go on because Ivanhoe Club, Illinois hosts its first professional tournament this week, we have to get creative.

The Illinois Open Championship has been played in the state since 1950 and although it has never visited Ivanhoe it was played at The Glen Club only 20 miles south of this week’s venue.

It’s hard to compare two little known courses, however Scott Harrington finished runner-up in 2002 and considering the tournament is trying to determine the best player in Illinois there is a chance he’s played Ivanhoe Club.

If Harrington has some prior course knowledge (and at least he is familiar with the area) he could enjoy a small advantage this week.

The 35-year-old arrives in good form after a T28 in the Dominican Republic and although he is still searching for his first tour win he went close a couple of times last season and has a recent T6 at the BMW Charity Pro-Am.
