Portugal Masters Tips: Hennie Otto

Arrives in good form after back-to-back top-15 finishes. Has strong course form and was T37 last year despite ranking last for putts.

A 12-time champion on the Sunshine Tour, Hennie Otto is a prolific winner but in recent months there has been a suggestion that he could win outside Africa for the first time in five years.

Since the start of July he has four top-15 finishes in seven starts and his game looks in excellent shape.

The fiery South African was seventh going into Sunday of the KLM Open until a poor final round dropped him down the field but he bounced back with a T8 in Italy and T12 at the Alfred Dunhill.

At a big price I fancy he can continue his good form in Portugal. Last year he finished T37 but it could have been so much better, Otto ranked T10 for GIRs but joint last in putts per round.

With T27 and T16 finishes also to his name, Hennie Otto has positive course experience to call upon and at 80/1 (Boylesports) he is a lively outsider, with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
