Portugal Masters Tips: Anthony Wall
Has five top-25 finishes at Vilamoura and arrives in good form (T19-T9 last two weeks).
It’s a big risk backing a player who hasn’t won a tournament since 2000 but there is enough juice in Anthony Wall’s price to make him a bet from a place perspective. Anything else can be considered a bonus.
The 40-year-old has enjoyed a resurgence in form this season with ten top-20 finishes included two in his last two starts.
The Englishman ranks in the top-30 for stroke average and driving accuracy and his often shaky putting has held-up well.
Wall has a terrific record at Vilamoura with five top-25 finishes in eight visits and we can ignore last year because the rain-softened course didn’t play to his strengths.
Another top-25 finish is probable and he could exceed expectations whilst his confidence his high. At 66/1 (Paddy Power) he is a good each-way bet.
