Portugal Masters Tips: Gregory Havret

Playing his best golf of the year and has broken par in nine of his last ten rounds at the Portugal Masters.

Gregory Havret is a mercurial golfer, he was good enough to finish second at a US Open but he’s not tasted victory on tour for five years. Given his talent, he should have won more tournaments but after a fallow 2012, he’s enjoying a productive year.

The 36-year-old has played his best golf in the last month with top-ten finishes at the European Masters and KLM Open. There is always a danger he slips back into the doldrums but he’s done well in Portugal before.

He missed the cut last year after a poor opening round but that was the first time he failed to break par at the Oceanico Victoria in ten attempts. In 2011 he finished T3, following on from a solid T22 in 2010.

It’s high time Havret added to his three tour victories and at 55/1 (Boylesports) this could be the week. Back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
