The Golf Outsider: Italian Open

We highlight three outsiders to look out for at this week’s BMW Italian Open.

A good quality field lines up for the BMW Italian Open with home favourite Francesco Molinari leading the betting. The par-72 Royal Park Golf and Country Club is conducive to good scoring with last year’s champion topping the leaderboard on 21-under.

BMW Italian Open Selections:

It’s been a long time since Maarten Lafeber won on tour but in the last month he’s been hitting form again. He finished 3rd at Gleneagles last month, his highest finish in four years.  Halfway leader at the Sicilian Open earlier this season, the 37-year-old looks overpriced on his return to Italy.
Recommend Bet: Maarten Lafeber at 250.0

A three-time winner on tour, Raphael Jacquelin knows where the finishing line is. The Frenchman has enjoyed another solid season, with three top-10 finishes including at third place at his home tournament – the Open de France. He has two top-10s at the Italian Open in his last four starts and an opening round of 65 last week at the KLM Open augers well.
Recommend Bet: Raphael Jacquelin at 100.0

Victor Dubuisson has enjoyed a good year on tour with three top-10 finishes but he must return to Italy with happy memories. Last year he fired a second round 62, the joint best of the week. Although he couldn’t finish higher than 39th it gave us a glimpse of his potential on this course.
Recommend Bet: Victor Dubuisson at 100.0
