Byron Nelson Tips: Sean O’ Hair

Byron Nelson Tips: Sean O’ Hair

Course record might not seem that encouraging but his tournament scoring average of 69.4 is better than most.

Sean O’Hair’s record at the Byron Nelson is a moderate MC-12-MC-MC-48 but his last two results came at a period when his game with in tatters. If we focus on the positives he has broken 70, six times in his last 14 rounds.

Of the players in the field this week who have played the event at least three times, Sean O’Hair ranks 20th with an actual scoring average of 69.4.

His course form is better than it immediately appears and his current form isn’t too bad either. He missed cuts at the RBC Heritage and Zurich Classic but also finished T10 at the Houston Open as well as making the weekend at TPC Sawgrass.

What I particularly like about Sean O’Hair is his driving. He’s 25th in driving distance and that could be an advantage this week as the early forecast is for rain and the course could be playing soft for the first couple of days at least.

The 33-year-old is a four-time winner on tour and went close a couple of times last season, most notably when losing in a playoff at the Valspar Championship. Given his pedigree he is overpriced at 150/1 (William Hill).
