Byron Nelson Tips: Brooks Koepka

Byron Nelson Tips: Brooks Koepka

Finished T16 last year but led the field for GIRs. Soft conditions will suit this big hitter.

Rain is forecast in Irving, Texas during the build up to the Byron Nelson and players could be faced with a soft course for the first couple of days of the tournament. If TPC Four Seasons plays longer than normal it could favour the big hitters like Brooks Koepka.

The 26-year-old is yet to really ignite in 2016 but he’s registered numerous top-30 finishes and an opening 66 at The Players Championship suggests he is about to catch fire.

Koepka’s strength is that he smashes the ball a long way and creates plenty of scoring opportunities, which is ideal for a low scoring event on a resort course.

Last year he finished T16 but it could have been so much better. He led the tournament in GIRs (80.56%) but couldn’t’ capitalise on his opportunities and lost strokes to the field putting.

If he can putt slightly better (he gained strokes on the field at TPC Sawgrass last week) then he should be in contention at 35/1 (Bet365).
