BMW PGA Championship Tips: Charl Schwartzel

Finished 6th three years ago and still one of the best golfers in the world.

Charl Schwartzel has endured a slightly up and down 2012 but he remains a classy golfer and looks overpriced at 35/1 (Stan James).

Having struggled on his early visits to Wentworth - he missed his first four cuts - Schwartzel seems to have got to grips with the venue in recent years. A sixth place finish in 2009 is his best, but he has two top-25s to go with it. A missed cut last year was disappointing but forgivable considering the media storm that followed his Masters triumph.

An excellent driver of the ball, the 27-year-old has a game that should be suited to Wentworth. He also ranks 8th for GIRs on the European Tour, a big help on what is now a very testing West Course.

A regular on the PGA Tour, Schwartzel still looks much more at home on the European circuit, having won six times on this side of the Atlantic. He is the sixth highest world ranked player in the tournament yet appears 10th in the betting. At 35/1 (Stan James) we should make the most of that disparity with ¼ odds for a top-six finish.
