BMW PGA Championship Tips: Tyrrell Hatton

Finished 12-T13-T5 in the last month and more patient when things don’t go his way on course. Had a couple of sighters of Wentworth and set for a big week.

Tyrrell Hatton made us some money by finishing fifth at the Irish Open last week and we can reinvest our earnings in the BMW PGA Championship.

In two visits to Wentworth, he has finished T38-T46 but the course takes some learning and he returns a more mature golfer. At one stage last week Hatton went 18 holes without a birdie (or bogey), last season he could have blown a gasket but instead he stayed patient and let the score come to him.

There is still fire in his belly, he grumbled about missing a birdie putt on 18 saying to his caddy he’d have made it if it were for par, but that spirit is important when harnessed correctly.

The 24-year-old hasn’t had much golf this season owing to his world ranking (and partly by choice) but he’s finished 12-T13-T5 in his last three tournaments and is sixth on tour for scoring average.

The talent is there and after a few near misses Hatton looks ready to win. It could be this week at 50/1 (Paddy Power) with 1/5 odds for a top-7 finish.
