BMW PGA Championship Tips: Pablo Larrazabal
Starting to get to grips with Wentworth with a couple of top-15 finishes in his last three visits. Played well at Valderrama and the K Club most recently.
Pablo Larrazabal is a four-time winner on the European Tour and his win in Abu Dhabi (when we tipped him at 125/1) proved he can cut it amongst the best.
Like many European Tour members sat outside the top-60 in the world, he’s had a stop-start season but he’s worked off that bit of rust and looks ready to contend. Although he missed two cuts in China they were sandwiched by a T29 at Valderrama and a T31 at the Irish Open, events that rival the calibre of the BMW PGA Championship.
It has taken a while for Larrazabal to master Wentworth, in his first four visits he finished no higher than T48 but since then he’s finished 12-7-MC.
Like many Spaniards he is blessed with an excellent short-game and is a particularly good putter having ranked inside the top-60 in putts per GIR for the past five season.
He is the type of player who could make a late run for a Ryder Cup spot and at 100/1 (Paddy Power) is a cracking each-way bet with 1/5 odds for a top-7 finish.
