BMW PGA Championship Tips: Ross Fisher

Local lad who knows the course inside out. Recorded his best finish of the year on his last start in the US.

Born just down the road in Ascot, the BMW PGA Championship is a ‘home’ tournament for Ross Fisher, who was a junior at Wentworth.

After a couple of lean years, the 32-year-old is returning to the sort of form that won him four European Tour titles. Now plying his trade on the PGA Tour, Fisher registered his best result of the year with a T10 at the Wells Fargo Championship on his last start.

An excellent driver of the ball, Fisher ranks 12th for total driving and 9th for GIRs on the PGA Tour, two skills you need at Wentworth.

His biggest weakness is his putting, but having grown up playing the famous West Course he should feel comfortable on the greens.

Fisher has two top-10 finishes at Wentworth on his CV and was leading going into the final round in 2008 before having a complete meltdown on Sunday.

Now in his golfing prime, he looks overpriced at 66/1 (Bet365). Back him each-way and get 1/4 odds for a top-6 finish.
