BMW PGA Championship Tips: Richard Sterne

Finished sixth last year and playing great golf now he is injury free. Hasn’t finished outside the top-25 in his last seven tournaments.

Back in 2004, two young South African golfers burst onto the scene. One was Charl Schwartzel, who went on the win the 2011 Masters, the other was Richard Sterne.

Unfortunately for Sterne, his career came to a juddering halt because of injury. His 2010 & 2011 seasons were completely wiped out but the good news is he’s now back to his best.

Winner of the Joburg Open in February, the 31-year-old is enjoying a fine run of form, with his last seven finishes reading: T2-2-1-T17-T12-T25-T9.

Last year he finished sixth at Wentworth, his second top-10 at the event having finished T3 back in 2007. Currently fourth in the Race to Dubai, Sterne is one of the best players on the European Tour and should be half the price he currently is with the bookies.

At 60/1 (Bet365) back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
