Hungarian Grand Prix Tip: Fernando Alonso

The higher track temperatures should suit Ferrari who are fancied to continue their second half comeback.

As we pass the halfway point in the F1 season it is Fernando Alonso who finds himself in the best form. Much to the Spaniard’s frustration the Ferrari is building a reputation as a ‘second half’ team. It might be too late for the world championship, but in Alonso they have a driver who never gives up.

Of the front teams, Ferrari struggle the most with tyre temperature and considering how cold the weather was in Germany it was an excellent performance to finish second at the Nurburgring.

With a return to warmer climbs, I would expect Alonso to continue on his upwards curve. The Hungaroring should suit the Ferrari; a tight twisty track, it is similar to Monaco and Valencia, tracks where Alonso finished second.

With Sebastian Vettel still dominating the betting there is a hint of value on the second favourite.
