Hamilton Vows to Fight Back

Hamilton expects to be back at the front soon.

The 2008 champion can't catch a break lately but finds himself still in contention.

Lewis Hamilton is confident he will be back on the winning trail soon despite McLaren seeing their F1 season hit the skids in recent weeks. The Englishman is a best price 14/5 (Sportingbet) for the Drivers Championship, his longest odds for sometime.

The 27-year-old has endured a rotten run of luck as mistakes made by the team have scuppered his hopes. Most recently in Spain, Hamilton was demoted from pole to the back of the grid due to a technical infringement beyond his control. He fought through the field to finish eighth which leaves him 8 points behind Vettel (11/4 Bet365) and Alonso (9/2 Betfred).

But Hamilton has struck an upbeat note: “When things go right, we’ll be in a great position. To get a couple of points from where I was, I cannot complain.”

The situation is however looking pretty ominous for the other McLaren driver. Jenson Button is back out to 7/1 (Ladbrokes) for the title after a second disappointing race day in a row. The 2009 world champion is clearly bemused: “I’m really struggling with the car and I don’t know why.”

Spanish Grand Prix winner Pastor Maldonado is a best price 16/1 (PaddyPower) to make it two in a row in Monaco on 27 May.
