European GP Preview

European GP at Valencia

This weekend the drivers compete around the harbour street circuit in Valencia. Have Lewis Hamilton’s title chances already sunk?

After two poor results Lewis Hamilton lies fourth in the world championship a massive 76 points behind Sebastian Vettel. Somehow he is still 16/1 second favourite for the title but he can’t afford any more slip ups.

Much like Moncao, the track is a tight street circuit with overtaking at a premium. In the three races since it was added to the F1 calendar there have only be four recognised overtakes. Twice the pole setter has won the race and this seems to favour Vettel.

The German world champion is 13/10 to win in Valencia with Hamilton next best at 7/2. It is a track that the Brit has never won at, with three consecutive second places. If ever he needed a win to silence the critics then it is on Sunday in Spain.

Local favourite Fernando Alonso is also in desperate need of some points. At 11/2 to win the race, the Spaniard will need to improve on his previous efforts. His record at Valencia is 8-6-DNF, not one that inspires confidence.
