Chinese Grand Prix Tip: Jenson Button

Button: handed a big chance to shine.

Early indications that McLaren are a class apart, and Hamilton will start down the field.

The news that Lewis Hamilton will be given a five-place grid penalty for the Chinese Grand Prix makes his team-mate Jenson Button an outstanding selection for glory at best odds of 2/1 with bodog.

Despite a bizarre, rain-affected race in Malaysia, the general consensus remains that McLaren is the team to beat this year. Button has already won in Australia and his bad day at the office in the second race looked like a one-off, nothing to worry about.

The fact remains that McLaren are ‘two for two’ on front row lock-outs this season and Button has been handed a huge early advantage this weekend. Hamilton has been the fastest qualifier up to now, but he is to be penalised after his team changed his gearbox.

With the knowledge that his team-mate can’t begin higher than sixth on the grid in Shanghai, Button should be an overwhelming favourite. Instead, it seems the ramifications of this penalty are yet to really shake the betting markets. They may well wake up pretty soon, so get your wager on swiftly while 2/1 (bodog) is still out there.
