Wolves v Sunderland

O'Neill will watch from the stands

Two struggling sides could cancel each other out. Hardly looks like a classic on paper.

It’s very hard to judge what the new manager effect is, or if there indeed is one, when the new boss is still officially on the sidelines. Martin O’Neill will surely lift the mood around Sunderland, where you expect a feeling that the slate has been wiped clean. However, the former Villa manager only takes the job properly on Monday, after the trip to Molinieux. He has met the players at training already. Only time will tell if some of the O’Neill magic has rubbed off already!

The best bet I can recommend for Sunday’s televised game is 12/5 (Bet365) on less than two goals in the game. Sitting 16th and 17th in the Premier League table, neither side is exactly prolific and there must be a good chance that these two will cancel each other out.

The Black Cats have actually only conceded six goals in six trips away from the Stadium of Light. That ranks them ahead of Man City and Tottenham in that respect, and only behind Man Utd in the whole league. The flip side is that they have only scored five in those same matches. In other words, Sunderland away matches average less than two goals per game; if that trend continues we win our bet at healthy odds.
