Wigan v Chelsea Tip

Gomez in action

Based on the form available, this fixture has a high potential for an upset.

In a two-horse race, odds of 5/1 (PaddyPower) on the hosts implies they are no-hopers. That simply isn’t the case for a Wigan Athletic team who won seven of their final nine matches at the end of 2011-12. Among their victims were Man Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool, so the big teams hold no fears.

Chelsea avoided being added to that list at Stamford Bridge, but their 2-1 success over the Latics was owed entirely to bizarre decisions from the officials. Martinez’s boys were robbed on that occasion, but they did achieve a 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium when the sides met earlier in the campaign. It really wouldn’t take much to go differently, based on those performance levels, for the underdogs to take the three points on Sunday.

Victor Moses is a transfer target for Chelsea, but is expected to play for the hosts. He may just want to put in one more sparkling performance to show his suitors exactly why they should part with their money.
