West Brom v Wigan Betting

Relegation scrap that is too close to call - not according to the bookmakers. But they are wrong.

The quote on the BBC match preview says it all, “The bookmakers would be hard pressed to pick a winner from this match given the horrendous form that West Brom and Wigan currently find themselves in.”

You can’t disagree with that. West Brom have lost six of their last seven, the central defence looks porous and their early season form has evaporated.

Wigan aren’t much better with only one win in their last eleven Premier League matches. The saving grace is that they are drawing a lot of games (five in that run of eleven) and they have only been steamrollered once at Arsenal.

Other positives are that Ali Al Habsi, Hugo Rodallega and Charles N’Zogbia return after they were rested for the FA Cup tie against Bolton and perhaps more tellingly they return having not been sold in the transfer window.

At worst you would say this game is a coin toss. Not according to the betting. Every bookmaker have West Brom odds on and some have them as short as 4/6. A crazy price considering thier recent run of form.

The draw is tempting at 11/4 with Betfred but this is the sort of game Wigan will have lined up weeks ago as a potential win and the 9/2 with Victor Chandler is too tempting to turn down.
