Against opponents struggling for goals, West Brom's leading scorer is good value to break the deadlock
It has not been a happy time for Aston Villa of late. After losing their captain to illness, the team now find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle. The fans aren’t happy either. Alex McLeish was never the most popular appointment and a campaign yielding only seven wins has not helped.
The big turning point was the loss of regular goalscorer Darren Bent. In the nine games he has been missing for, Aston Villa have only scored seven times.
Local rivals West Brom are enjoying the opposite kind of run. They have won three of their last four and stopped the opponents scoring in four of their last five home games. The 6/5 (Stan James) on a home win is tempting, but with the opposition unlikely to find the net, a first goalscorer tip is better value.
All the form points to West Brom striking first and if they do, Peter Odemwingie at 5/1 (Boylesports) is the most likely scorer. The Nigerian scored the winner against Liverpool last weekend and with 10 league goals, he is the team’s leading marksman.
