Rickie Lambert is a best price of 9/4 (Ladbrokes) to score anytime against WBA and that looks like a bargain given the confidence he must be feeling right now. Scoring with your first touch on your England debut, a winner against Scotland, is about as good as it gets.
The 31-year-old scored 15 league goals in his first season in the top flight last term and interestingly he actually found the net more often away from St Mary’s Stadium (8).
I think the Baggies are going to find life a lot tougher in 2013-14 and it’s not as if they were impossible to score against at the Hawthorns last season anyway. WBA ranked 13th for home goals conceded and only kept five clean sheets in 19 attempts.
Given that they normally concede, Lambert must be the best bet to take advantage of any such fragility on the opening day.
