Rooney inspired comeback

A Wayne Rooney hat-trick edged his side nearer to a record 19th League Championship.

Manchester United are now just 1/5 to win the league after beating West Ham 2-4, having been two goals down.  Alex Ferguson’s day just got better as he then watched Arsenal and Chelsea drop further points behind. A Wayne Rooney second half masterclass saw off a spirited home side who nearly gave the Gunners a massive boost in the lunchtime kick-off. Instead, the United comeback simply heaped more pressure on Arsene Wenger’s side who could only muster a 0-0 home draw with Blackburn in response. Bluesquare have reacted by pushing Arsenal out to 6/1 for the league, having been 10/3 some hours earlier.

Chelsea faced a tough task at Stoke and if they lose the league it won’t be as a result of a hard fought 1-1 draw at the Brittania Stadium. The damage was done a long time ago and they are now 14/1 to retain their title. It was also a good weekend for the blue half of Manchester as City ran out 5-0 winners over Sunderland and actually moved a point above Ancelotti’s side having played a game more. Top spot looks beyond them but hopes of entering the Champions League next season are sky high, rated as a 1/5 shot now. Spurs dropped points again with a 0-0 stalemate at Wigan that leaves them suddenly struggling to keep up. Bet365 now prices them as 9/2 shots for the top four.
