Tottenham v Chelsea Tip

This London derby appears to be the last thing Jose Mourinho needs at this moment in time. AVB faces his old club.

By almost any criteria you care to choose, Tottenham have been the most impressive team in 2013-14 to date. They have won eight of their nine fixtures across all competitions, keeping clean sheets in each and every one of those victories. Therefore, best odds of 18/5 (Ladbrokes) on Spurs winning to nil on Saturday are too good to resist.

The odds on AVB’s boys simply taking three points (9/5 WilliamHill) are appealing but I think we can finesse the bet here for added value. The vast number of Tottenham clean sheets have not been a fluke; the Lilywhites have also allowed the fewest number of shots on their goal in the entire league (seven per game).

Chelsea are yet to find the net in either of their away league games to date having drawn a blank at Old Trafford and Goodison Park. The main problem for Mourinho is that none of the strikers are scoring; remarkably only one of the last 25 Blues league goals has come from a recognised front man.

This has led to Chelsea’s joint-lowest goal return in the top flight for 18 years. Their next opponents are unlikely to be charitable and a reversal of fortunes is unlikely here.
