Title Focused Arsenal There For The Taking

The Gunners rode their luck at home to Newcastle and Sunderland recently and were run ragged at Southampton. Another bad result can't be discounted.

In case anyone hasn’t noticed, Arsenal have reached the summit of the Premier League without playing very well over the last month or so.

Today they face Sunderland in the FA Cup and with Arsene Wenger liable to make a few changes anyway, there’s no way the Mackems should be as long as 10/1 when the title is all the Gunners really care about this term.

Even the league meeting between these sides at the Emirates last month could have easily resulted in an upset. Petr Cech was forced to make a number of fine saves, including when the game was poised at 1-1.

It was a very similar story last weekend when Newcastle came to town and outplayed Arsenal only to contrive to lose 1-0.

The Londoners can’t keep relying on a combination of their goalkeeper and blind luck to get results. We saw what can happen when Southampton thrashed them 4-0 on Boxing Day. Today could be another day of reckoning.
