Sunderland Next Manager Odds
The bookmakers can’t decide between Martin O’Neill and Mark Hughes, both trading close to even money to take over at Sunderland.
Steve Bruce parted company with Sunderland on Wednesday and the hunt for a new manager begins. The bookmakers have Martin O’Neill as the evens favourite (Sportingbet) but the ex-Villa manager can be particular with who he works with. He traded odds-on to be West Ham manager before changing his mind at the last minute.
The BBC reports that Mark Hughes leads the race and he can be backed at 11/8 (Paddy Power) to take the hot seat at the Stadium Of Light.
Rafa Benitez has never hidden his desire to get back into management and he is the 12/1 (Bet365) third favourite. The list of potential replacements is exhaustive but a couple of names to look out for are Carlo Ancelotti at 25/1 (Bet365) and Steve McClaren at 33/1 (Bet365); both are looking for work and come with title winning experience on their CVs.
