Southampton v Fulham Tip

Nigel Adkins seems determined to keep his Saints attacking even if tends to lead to goals at both ends of the pitch

The TV cameras will head to the St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday lunch time with high hopes of being served up some entertainment. It feels like a match that could go either way, as we see two teams who are better at scoring than keeping them out at the other end. Betfred offer best odds of 2/1 on there being over 3.5 goals in the match and the statistics suggest that’s pretty likely.

Southampton have been great value for the neutrals since their return to the top flight. There have been 28 goals in their six Premier League matches so far; an average of 4.67 per fixture. The fact that the Saints have only claimed 10 of those 28 will be a concern for Nigel Adkins, but it needn’t be for us.

Fulham fans have seen 22 goals in their six league clashes at an average of 3.67 per game. Martin Jol’s boys have notched 13 of those 22 goals which explains their loftier position in the table, but again we shouldn’t be unduly concerned by this.

Our wager gives us the pleasure of enjoying all the attacking play knowing that it doesn’t particularly matter if one side gets on top. We should win either way, so long as the patterns of the season so far continue.
