Saturday Accumulator

It's D-Day in the Championship from which we take 3 selections with West Ham thrown in from the top flight.

We’re mainly focused on the final round of matches in the Championship for this accumulator, but we can lay the foundations for our 21/1 shot (BetVictor) at Upton Park.

West Ham (11/8) v Newcastle:

Newcastle are currently in crisis and former Magpies boss Sam Allardyce must secretly be licking his lips in anticipation of the Toon Army’s arrival at Upton Park. ‘Big Sam’ never really got given a chance at St James’s Park and he will be hoping West Ham can make it three home wins in their last four. Pardew’s boys were humiliated 6-0 on their own patch by Liverpool last Sunday. They may still be shell-shocked.

Wednesday (20/23) v Middlesbrough:

The Owls need not rely on any other results to secure their second tier status if they simply beat Boro at Hillsborough. They just need to re-discover the spirit that secured back-to-back wins over Millwall and Blackburn in early April. Tony Mowbray’s side were promotion candidates before a pathetic run of form in recent months. No away wins since 8 December tells its own story.

Brighton (evens) v Wolves:

The concern might be that Wolves have more to play for as they have a slim chance of avoiding the drop while Brighton are already assured of 4th spot and a play-off berth. But I don’t see this preventing a home win. The visitors are resigned to their fate after dismal home defeats to Huddersfield and Burnley last time out. The Seagulls are flying after 8 games unbeaten and won’t want to lose momentum now.

Forest (6/4) v Leicester:

The hosts have been revived by Billy Davies and one final push could sneak them into the top-six. Forest are unbeaten since January at the City Ground but I think it’s the win at Millwall last weekend that will really act as the catalyst. The Foxes technically still have their own play-off hopes but realistically they know the chance is minimal after the home defeat to Watford last week made it 1 win in 12 fixtures at crunch time.
