Rule Brittania

Steve Bruce will hope his side will bounce back from their humbling match against Chelsea.

Stoke entertain Sunderland in today's televised lunchtime game. With a formidable home record and former Black Cat Kenwyne Jones in their ranks Stoke will be confident of claiming another three points.

Any fan will tell you that you fear the worst when your team come up against a former striker so Sunderland won’t be looking forward to their re-union with Kenwyne Jones when he lines up for Stoke today. The Potters could in fact include up to six players in their squad who formerly played for today’s opponents - Danny Collins, Rory Delap, Danny Higginbotham, Thomas Sorenson and Dean Whitehead may all be involved. To have so many rivals with a point to prove doesn’t bode well for Steve Bruce’s men!

A narrow home victory with a goal from Jones would be no surprise. The Trinidad and Tobago international is Stoke’s leading scorer having arrived for a club record £8 million last August. Tony Pulis has made his rugged side an established Premier League force largely off the back of winning games like this one. Stoke are priced at 9/1 with Sky Bet to sneak a 2-1 win and this seems about right. Kenwyne Jones is 15/8 with Paddy Power to be an anytime goalscorer if punters prefer to go down that route.
