Relegation Breathing Space

West Brom Almost Safe

West Brom and Aston Villa recorded big wins to ease their relegation fears. Meanwhile the bottom three remain unchanged.

Only two teams in the bottom half won and they saw their relegation odds change significantly. Unbeaten under Roy Hodgson, West Brom took a significant three points at the expense of Sunderland and moved seven points clear of the drop zone. The bookmakers think they are all but safe pushing their odds out to 25/1 from 4/1.

Aston Villa can also breathe a little more easily as a home win against Newcastle moved them five points clear. They are now 22/1 to go down having been 13/2 before the weekend.

It is a case of as you were for the bottom three, with no change in positions. West Ham and Wolves are now odds on to slip out of the league after failing to pick up any points; they had been odds against before this round of matches.

Blackpool are in a desperate dog fight, but remain one point and one place above the relegation zone. Despite this bookmakers make them 4/6 second favourites to return to the Championship.
