Race For The Champions League

One point separates three teams in the race for the Champions League but Chelsea could scupper their plans.

With two games left to play Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle are separated by one point. A top-four finish would normally guarantee a place in next year’s Champions League preliminaries but it becomes a top-three if Chelsea win in Munich.

Top Four Finish

Roberto Di Matteo’s team are now 25/1 (Ladbrokes) for a top-four finish meaning they need to beat Bayern Munich to ensure qualification to next year’s tournament. They are 15/8 (Boylesports) to win the Champions League.

Top 3 Finish
Arsenal – 2/5 (Paddy Power)
Tottenham – 9/4 (Bet365)
Newcastle – 20/1 (Bet365)
Chelsea – 100/1 (Bet365)

Finishing directly behind the two Manchester teams is the only way to guarantee a place in next year’s Champions League and Arsenal hold the edge, with a one point lead over Tottenham. Any slip-ups would open the door for Spurs, who have an almost identical goal difference.

Top 4 Finish
Arsenal – 1/12 (Ladbrokes)
Tottenham – 1/4 (Ladbrokes)
Newcastle – 3/1 (Bet365)
Chelsea – 25/1 (Ladbrokes)

Newcastle continue to defy the odds this season and have been cut to 3/1, having been 8/1 prior to their win at Chelsea. However, they have a worse goal difference and still have to play Man City.
