QPR v Liverpool Tip

Last season's late heroics all began with this fixture for QPR. Can lightning strike twice?

Liverpool (10/11 PaddyPower) continue to be priced up to win fixtures such as this as if they are bonafide Champions League contenders. Something they categorically are not. In 2012 they have won just 11 Premier League matches whilst losing 17 games over the same 12 month period.

Recent Reds form is only in keeping with these damning statistics. Brendan Rodgers saw his side comprehensively beaten 3-1 at Stoke on Boxing Day and they lost by the same scoreline to Aston Villa at Anfield on 15 December - a result that is looking worse with every passing day. A thumping of Fulham in-between only goes to show how inconsistent the Merseysiders are, and how bad the Cottagers have been lately.

Where am I going with this? Basically, however poor the QPR statistics look, they shouldn’t be as long as 7/2 (Bet365) to win this televised fixture, one which they came from 2-0 down to triumph in last season.

The Hoops were denied by questionable refereeing against WBA but the signs are that things can get better at Loftus Road under Harry Redknapp. QPR won their final five home games to stay up in 2011-12, starting with Liverpool, so perhaps Sunday could be the start of another resurgence for the hosts.
