Liverpool v Plymouth Preview

Expect Klopp to ring the changes and Ben Woodburn can build on the big impression he made in the EFL Cup.

Jurgen Klopp isn’t afraid to ring the changes for cup competitions and we must build this into our expectations against Plymouth on Sunday. In the third round last year, Klopp made 11 changes to his starting XI, fielding a side where the average age was just 22.

Liverpool were lucky to escape Exeter with a draw but the experience hasn’t altered Klopp’s vision and he recently fielded a weakened side in the EFL Cup. In the quarter-final against Leeds, Ben Woodburn came off the bench to become Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer and there is a good chance he features against Plymouth.

The 17-year-old was rewarded with a place on the bench in five of Liverpool’s last seven Premier League matches and this is the perfect opportunity for him to gain more experience.

Woodburn has five goals for Liverpool U23s this season (0.56 goals per90) and is a big price at 8/1 (Paddy Power) to open the scoring against Plymouth. If he comes off the bench after a goal has been scored we get our money back so the downside is mitigated.

1pt Ben Woodburn to score first 8/1 with Paddypower
