17th Apr 2014 | Premier League

Saturday Football Accumulator

Three mid-table teams with little at stake can all be defeated on Saturday.

I’m backing two teams fighting for their lives to win at home to sides in mid-table obscurity plus one of the Premier League’s form horses. The treble comes in at a best price of 21/1 with BetVictor.*

Cardiff (6/4) to win at home to Stoke:

The Bluebirds threw themselves an invaluable lifeline with victory at St Mary’s Stadium last weekend and they will hope to follow in Fulham’s footsteps by recording back-to-back successes. Cardiff could now draw level on points with 17th placed Norwich and all they must do is defeat one of the division’s worst travellers. Stoke are safe but it owes nothing to their away record (W2 D4 L11).

Crystal Palace (5/2) to win away to West Ham:

The Eagles have stormed to Premier League survival off the back of four consecutive victories which has seen the magical total of 40 pts reached with time to spare. The run has included triumphs over Chelsea and Everton and the momentum might just sweep them past one more challenge. West Ham are also essentially safe but after consecutive losses it may not take much for the home fans to get frustrated.

Barnsley (6/4) to win at home to Leeds:

This fixture is almost a replica of the Cardiff match, but in the Championship. The Tykes secured a priceless 2-1 victory at Charlton in midweek but they remain second bottom with plenty to do. Luckily for Barnsley, Leeds look like ideal visitors. They may have beaten hapless Blackpool last week, but the Elland Road club remain in turmoil after a controversial takeover and a run of five defeats in the last six outings.
