Liverpool v Hull Tip

He ended his goal drought on Saturday to trigger hysteria and a haircut. But his shot stats suggest he could do it again. Soon.

For fans of the lively outsider, let me point you in the general direction of the first goalscorer market at Anfield on New Year’s Day. Fresh from the barber’s, Tom Huddlestone is a mammoth 50/1 to break the deadlock with PaddyPower.

Admittedly, this is a price you might expect for a man who just ended a 32 month goal drought but the statistics actually suggest that the Hull playmaker may not have to wait long for his next big moment.

Huddlestone has had 40 shots in 2013-14 and averages more attempts per game than Chelsea’s top scorer Eden Hazard. His figures are actually very similar to Aaron Ramsey’s who has found the net eight times in the league for Arsenal.

The former Spurs man could have easily had a hat-trick against Fulham on Saturday having also struck the woodwork twice. And when Hull beat Liverpool 3-1 at the KC Stadium only four weeks ago, the 27-year-old had four more shots, one of which resulted in a Skrtel own goal.

These are incidents that would encourage you to back the England hopeful at 20/1 - but at 50/1 he is irresistible.
