Costa Expectation

Hull have been injected with confidence by their bright new manager who began with a win. Meanwhile Costa has to play like he wants to be there.

For those who have already read our recommended tip for Arsenal v Burnley, prepare yourself for a strong case of deja-vu!

While it may be harder to suggest that Hull City are always as competitive as Burnley, we have a new manager impact and a slightly bigger price to give us similar hope here.

Cynics will say this is an over-reaction to Marco Silva’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth in his first league game in charge, but there were actually encouraging signs even under Mike Phelan.

The Tigers led into the second half in his final game at WBA. Before that they led Everton with six minutes to go in a game they should have won. The 3-0 reverse to Man City came after three late goals and the 1-0 defeat to West Ham prior to that saw the West Ham post named ‘man of the match!’

In other words, Hull have been very competitive for a while but simply lacked the belief which Silva may have brought with him.

Of course Chelsea should win but all eyes will be on how Diego Costa reacts to recent events and high expectation levels may mean this is no stroll in the park.
