It's Hard To Be A Saint

Southampton may have played well a few days ago but 8 defeats in 11 matches tells us they are inconsistent at best.

There’s not much between these sides as aptly demonstrated by a league table which shows them both with 27 points from 21 matches.

It’s therefore pretty apparent that West Brom represent decent value at best odds of 5/1 to cause an upset at St Mary’s Stadium.

But should the prospect of an away victory even be regarded as an upset? The Saints may have just beaten Watford but that means little; they followed a 4-0 thrashing of Arsenal with a loss at West Ham two days later. They have lost 8 of their last 11 outings in all competitions.

The Baggies are always competitive on the road due to the few goals they concede and earned a credible draw at Stamford Bridge in midweek.

It’s too close to call and therefore the prices are all wrong.
